What is Weepeat Kids?

How does the Sale Operate?
WeePeat Kids is a two-day seasonal consignment sale. This is not a yard sale.
Shoppers enjoy the advantage of having a huge selection of high quality and name brand items marked at bargain prices. They are able to keep their kids fashionable for less by saving on all their purchases.
Consignors register for a small fee and drop off their tagged children’s items prior to the sale. They make 70% on everything they sell and receive a check in about two weeks after the sale ends. Plus, consignors are paid for every new consignor they refer. Consignors decide prior to the sale whether they wish to pick up their remaining items or have them donated.
Volunteers help prior to and during the sale and in return for their volunteer service; they earn additional commissions and shopping privileges.
WeePeat Kids provides the advertising, sales venue, and accounting functions for the consignors and fun for the shoppers!
Who Does the Sale Benefit?
EVERYONE. As a shopper, you get a HUGE selection of quality items that are like new and pay much, much less than retail prices. How Does This Sale Differ From a Yard Sale or Consignment Shop?
The WeePeat Kids Consignment Sale is not a yard sale. As a consignor, you will enjoy rewarding returns without the headaches and expense of a weekend yard sale. You set your price and there is no haggling. There are no tables for you to set up, no signs to make, no weather to worry about, no start up cash required, no bags, and better yet, you do not even need to be present at the sale to be a consignor.
You consign with WeePeat Kids Consignment for two days – versus a season in a traditional consignment store. You recognize a quicker return on your consigned items while WeePeat Kids absorbs the overhead cost .
As a shopper, you have the advantage of quality over yard sale purchases. All consigned items are examined for stains, excessive wear, rip and tears, missing buttons or non-working zippers, and general cleanliness, prior to placing them on the sales floor. You will enjoy shopping our sale and will conveniently find what you are looking for without the hassle of digging through piles of clothing, boxes, etc. You could shop all summer at yard sales and consignment stores and still not find the variety of items at the WeePeat Kids Consignment Sale!

What is a Consignor?
A consignor is an individual that gives and entrusts items to be sold by another person or entity for a determined share of the profit.
Families sell (consign) their children’s items with WeePeat Kids and receive a commission check based on their final amount sold. Once you decide to become a consignor, find items in your home (clothing, toys, etc.) that you wish to put in the sale, tag those items based on our tagging procedures, sort clothing by size and gender, decide which items you wish to sell on ½ price day and which items you wish to donate, bring all items to the sale according to drop-off procedures…and enjoy shopping the sale! Pick up or donate your items at the end of sale and receive a commission check (yeah!) within two weeks.
What are the Benefits of Being a Consignor?
There are many benefits to becoming a consignor! First, you not only clear your home of clutter, you get to earn your own paycheck for doing so! The more items you consign, the more you earn to use for fall and winter wardrobes, the Holidays, vacations, etc! Second, all of our consignors are invited to shop the Consignor Presale Event the day prior the public sale. We want to treat our consignors to the best selection! Third, you get the advantage of being the first invited back to the Spring 2009 sale!
What Do I Earn as a Consignor?
What you earn is up to you! Our consignors earn 70% commission on their items sold, less a $5.00 non-refundable consignor fee. However, this commission increases with just 2 hours of volunteer service to 75%! For 4 hours of volunteer service, you earn 80% commission!
How Do I Present My Items to Sell?
The presentation of your consigned items is crucial to your selling success!
DO NOT OVERPRICE YOUR ITEMS! Remember, WeePeat Kids Children’s Consignment Sale shoppers are looking for quality, value-priced items! Your articles will not sell if they are overpriced!
Place clothing on hangers with the hanger hook opening to the left. The hook should be in the shape of a question mark. ALL CLOTHING MUST BE ON HANGERS!
DO NOT PLACE CLEAR PACKING TAPE OVER THE BARCODE.
All clothing must be properly tagged and secured with safety pins. The use of straight pins and clothes pins is prohibited.
WeePeat Kids can offer the following suggestions to increase the value of your consigned items:
Clothing should be pressed or steamed, in either case, wrinkle-free and odor-free!
Use the Bundle and Bag or the Bundle and Hang System! You can place similar styles of different colored pieces of clothing or accessories together to create sets. For example, put two Old-Navy shirts that are the same style but different colors together by using a rubber band to connect the hangers or by safety-pinning items together. A group of onesies or sleepers may bring a better price then selling them individually.
Creating an outfit with your individual items saves shoppers time and the headache of trying to match pieces themselves.
Try including small matching accessories with your clothing such as hair ties, belts, or socks to increase the value of the outfit.
Your toys should be clean! Your toys should include working batteries if needed to operate. Your local dollar stores are great places to get batteries.
The extra-large zip-lock bags that are now available are great for bagging large doll furniture or race sets and bedding sets!
Try bundling and bagging toys (Barbie dolls, doll clothes, matchbox cars, action figures), books, videotapes, or DVDs.
Drop Off and Pickup Procedures
DROP OFF PROCEDURE
Drop offs for the WeePeat Kids Fall 2008 Consignment sale will be accepted at Marne United Methodist Church as follows:
Thursday, October 9th 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday, October 10th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Consignors with 400 items or more will need to make an appointment prior to dropping off their items.
PICK-UP PROCEDURE
Organizing of unsold items begins promptly at the conclusion of the sale. Consignors (ONLY) wishing to help in this process are welcome to pick-up their unsold items at this time.
Otherwise, unsold items MUST BE PICKED UP between 1:00 and 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 12th.
NO ITEMS WILL BE HELD. ITEMS NOT PICKED UP WILL BE DONATED.
How do I Tag my Sale Items?
ATTENTION CONSIGNORS! WeePeat Kids has added an automated tagging program for our consignors! This will simplify the tagging process. ALL TAGS MUST BE PRODUCED WITHIN THE SYSTEM. We can no longer accept handwritten tags or tags produced outside of the automated system.
DO NOT PLACE PACKING TAPE OVER THE BARCODE. The scanner will not read the barcode if there is clear tape over it.
To enter an item, go to "ITEM ENTRY AND TAG PRINTING" in the automated system.
In order for the barcode to be easily scanned, ALL TAGS MUST BE PRINTED ON WHITE OR CREAM COLORED CARD STOCK and should not be printed in bold.
Once printed, tags should then be placed on the items as follows:
Clothing: use a safety pin to fasten the printed tag to the upper left hand corner of the garment (no exceptions!).
Hard Surfaces: use clear packing tape to tape the item securely to hard surfaces (such as toys and equipment) in a conspicuous area.
ZipLocks: use clear packing tape to tape the item securely to the ziplock bag.
Shoes: Shoes can be tricky! Make sure that shoes are securely attached together and then you can tape the tag on the bottom of the shoe, or place the shoes in a zip lock bag and tag as described above.
IN ALL CASES, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS TO ATTACH THE TAG IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE THAT CAN BE EASILY LOCATED AND SEEN BY OTHERS!
Any accessories for toys and small items should be put in a ziplock bag and then taped with clear packing tape so that they cannot be opened! Toy accessories should be securely attached to the main toy with clear packing tape.
How Do I Know What Selling Price to Ask for my Items?

There are several resources available that can help you to determine what to price your items. Remember, this IS NOT a yard sale! The WeePeat Kids Consignment Sale allows you to price most items for more than what you could ask from a yard/garage sale. However, it is important to maintain a fair asking price on all items, to not only improve your chance of selling the item, but also to keep prices in line so that everyone benefits! Without our customers, we don’t have a sale. That being said, the following lists are ideas to help you in your pricing!
Price infant to size 2T lower than larger sizes, as there are often many more of these items to compete with.
A good rule of thumb is to price your items at 1/3 to 1/2 of the manufacturer’s original retail price.
The internet is a great source to check for used clothing prices (goodwill, salvation army).
Check the going price for children’s clothing on e-bay.
Why Should I Volunteer?
Earn an additional 5% by volunteering for a 2-hour shift, earn an additional 10% for a 4-hour shift – up to total commission earned of 80% of your consigned items!
VOLUNTEER PRE-SALE: Volunteers who are registered to provide 4 hours or more of service have the opportunity to shop as follows:
Friday, October 10th: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
*volunteers who are registered to provide 8 or more hours of service will be entitled to shop on Thursday, October 9th, at the conclusion of the consignor drop-off time, beginning at 9:00 p.m.
*registered volunteers who do not complete their service hours by the end of the sale will not be eligible to volunteer at future sale events. Actual hours worked will determine volunteer commission.
How Can I Volunteer?
Good volunteers are imperative for a successful sale! We value our volunteers’ time and commitment.
Becoming a volunteer is easy and profitable, and is awarded on a first come first serve basis. You can register to volunteer by going to "VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION" in the automated system, or by logging on to the "CONSIGNOR LOGIN".
All volunteers must sign-in prior to the start of their shift to be credited with volunteer hours!
What if I Volunteer and Cannot Work?
Failure to notify WeePeat Kids will prohibit that person from volunteering in the next sale. All commission earned will be based on actual volunteer hours, not scheduled hours!
If you find that you cannot fulfill your volunteer commitment, you must advise WeePeat Kids two days prior to the sale. Volunteer spots are limited, but necessary to insure a successful sale for everyone!
Will All of My Unsold Items be Returned to Me?
The goal of WeePeat Kids is to return all items to their original consignors, unless items have otherwise been marked for donation. HOWEVER, although WeePeat Kids makes every effort to return items, we cannot take responsibility for any items that cannot be matched with a consignor due to lost or damaged tags. In addition, although WeePeat Kids volunteers make every effort to reduce the amount of theft, we cannot guarantee that theft will not occur.
WeePeat Kids will not issue any receipts for donated items.
How Long Do I Have to Cash My Check?
Checks will be mailed to consignors within two weeks of the sales close.
You have ninety days from the date of the consignment commission check to present the check for payment.
